Who is responsible for your data?

This website is operated by Dr. Fatoumata Sylla, a public-health researcher based in France (the “site operator” and, for data collected directly through this website, the data controller). You can make a privacy request via the contact form or by email at sylla.fatoumata@gmx.fr. The controller’s additional professional contact details appear in the Legal Notice, which requires confirmation before publication.

Personal data collected

  • When contacting us: first and last name, email address, optional telephone number, inquiry topic, message, preferred language, and basic technical data necessary to process and protect the request.
  • When subscribing to updates: first and last name, email address, submission time, preferred language, confirmation status and evidence of specific newsletter consent.
  • On normal browsing: technical connection and security information, which may include an IP address, browser details, error and access logs handled by website infrastructure and security providers. Cloudflare Web Analytics also provides aggregated page-view and site-performance measurements.
  • On using external links: social networks and publishers process data under their own notices after you choose to visit them.

Do not submit medical records, patient information, sensitive health details, or information about other people through these public forms.

With your optional Google Analytics consent: Google Analytics 4 may collect page visits, device/browser information, interaction details, and first-party analytics identifiers. Google Analytics is not loaded until you opt in.

Purposes and legal grounds

  • Answering enquiries and considering research, speaking or consulting requests: legitimate interests in managing correspondence (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), or steps requested before entering a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) where relevant.
  • Sending opted-in research and activity updates: your freely given, specific consent (Article 6(1)(a)); consent can be withdrawn at any time. A subscription request triggers a confirmation email. Research newsletters are sent only after the subscriber confirms their address; consent can be withdrawn at any time using the unsubscribe link.
  • Protecting forms, preventing spam and operating the website: legitimate interests in service reliability and security (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • Measuring aggregate traffic and website performance: legitimate interests in understanding and improving the website (Article 6(1)(f)), using Cloudflare Web Analytics without analytics cookies or cross-site visitor profiling.
  • Keeping records required by law or responding to valid legal requests: compliance with legal obligations where applicable (Article 6(1)(c)).

We do not sell personal information or use form submissions to build advertising profiles.

Google Analytics 4 audience measurement: your optional consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Rejecting analytics does not limit access to the site; consent can be withdrawn through Cookie Preferences.

Who processes your information?

The website uses Vercel for hosting and infrastructure, Sanity for managing site content and recording newsletter signups as unpublished draft records, Resend for contact form delivery, newsletter confirmation and welcome emails, verified subscriber lists, newsletter delivery and unsubscribe management, and Cloudflare Turnstile to verify submissions and limit automated abuse. Cloudflare Web Analytics provides aggregated traffic and page-performance reporting without setting analytics cookies. Authorized service providers and the operator may access data only to provide those services or handle an inquiry.

Some pages link to external research publishers and social platforms; clicking those links subjects you to their independent policies. Institutional affiliations displayed on this site do not make those institutions co-controllers of website contact or newsletter information solely by appearing on the site.

Google LLC supplies the optional Google Analytics 4 service when you consent. This integration does not enable Google advertising features. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics separately for cookie-free aggregate statistics.

International processing

The website is available globally, and infrastructure or service providers may process data outside France or the European Economic Area. Where a GDPR-restricted transfer is involved, the controller must ensure an appropriate lawful mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or EU standard contractual clauses with supplementary measures where necessary. Service-provider locations and transfer arrangements must be reviewed against current contracts; this notice does not promise that all data remains in the EU.

How long information is kept

  • Contact enquiries: normally reviewed for deletion or anonymisation within 12 months of the last meaningful exchange, unless an ongoing relationship, a legal obligation or a documented dispute warrants longer retention.
  • Newsletter subscriptions and consent evidence: for the subscription’s lifetime and a limited period needed to demonstrate compliance after withdrawal, subject to applicable requirements.
  • Security and technical logs: for limited periods specified by the relevant host or security provider, depending on operational and security needs.
  • Cookie notice preference: stored on your browser for no longer than six months, unless you clear it sooner.

These retention periods require operational deletion and periodic review; merely publishing this notice does not delete data automatically.

Analytics choices: acceptance or refusal is stored locally for up to six months. If you consent to GA4, Google Analytics data retention depends on the configured GA4 property and applicable Google settings; the website operator must review those settings.

Your privacy rights

Under the GDPR, where applicable, you may request access to, rectification or erasure of personal data, restriction of processing, portability when conditions apply, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw newsletter consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Send requests through the contact form or email; identity verification may be needed where appropriate. You can also complain to the French supervisory authority, the CNIL, or your competent data-protection authority. Rights may be limited where legislation permits.

Cookies, audience measurement and security

Cloudflare Web Analytics is used for aggregate traffic and performance statistics. Cloudflare states that this service does not set analytics cookies or fingerprint visitors.

Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-YL3QFX7VWM) is an optional audience-measurement service provided by Google LLC. Its Google tag is not loaded until you actively consent. Once enabled, Google Analytics may use first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_YL3QFX7VWM to measure usage and produce statistics. This activity relies on your consent. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this integration. Google may process data internationally under applicable contractual safeguards. Cookie Preferences lets you accept, refuse or withdraw permission at any time; refusal does not prevent use of the website.

Infrastructure and Cloudflare Turnstile use technical information to operate and secure the site and protect forms against abuse. You can find further details in our Cookie Preferences and the relevant providers’ policies.

Children, security and updates

This professional site is not directed to children and does not intentionally request children’s personal information. Appropriate technical and organisational security measures are used, but no internet service is completely risk-free. The notice will be updated when actual processing, providers or laws change; material changes will be communicated as appropriate. The French and English versions are provided to help international visitors understand their rights.
